Fruits that may help burn fat

Most people who are overweight find it difficult to curb their appetite, because of their body’s craving for carbohydrates, especially after the calorie-burning of a strenuous workout. Can fruit help with weight loss?

Vitamin C rich fruits are virtual fat burners

The body uses vitamin C  to eliminate or burn up, excess stored fat. The richest, most easily available source of vitamin C, would be citrus fruits like oranges, limes, lemons and nartjies, guavas, grapes and pineapples. Citrus fruits have to qualify as the best fat burning foods.

Apples are natural fat absorbers

Pectin is a natural ingredient present in apples and it acts as an agent that restricts cells from absorbing fat from the other foods that you eat. It also increases water absorption from the food, which in turn helps release fat deposits from the body. The high fibre content in apples will cause you to feel full when you munch into a couple of them, and hence can serve as regular breakfast food.

Fruits provide carbohydrates that release high energy

Many people wonder if the high calorie fruits would increase their body weight. Nothing can be further from truth. First of all, high calorie content does not immediately mean an increase in body weight – what’s important is the source of the calories. The calories in fruit come from simple carbohydrates, called fructose, which are instantly converted to glucose and supply fuel to the body. This fuel is then used by the body to increase its rate of metabolism and to burn fat.
