Shed that winter weight

It's that time of year again!  We’ve worked hard, we’re tired, and we can’t wait to get out of our offices and hit the beach. But wait, the beach and vacation time means baring our bodies, wearing shorts and skimpy clothing. And this in front of strangers who don’t love us the way our families do, for better or for worse, for butter or for wors.

We won’t be able to disguise the multitude of nutritional sins as we do during the year.  Some of us have kept to a balanced wellness routine.  But most of us haven’t.  And now we panic. We rush out in search of that one fabulous new diet, that one silver bullet, the quick fix, the single tablet/beverage/mindset/affirmation/lotion that will miraculously help us shed 20kgs overnight, firm up all the bits and pieces, bring down our dress size by double digits, while encouraging us to eat what we like, when we like, as often as we like. And we ourselves don’t need to do much more than swallow the potion or say the affirmation and visualize ourselves as gorgeous and slim.

And we know this is the way to go because there are tons of adverts out there feeding our fantasy of overnight quick fixes and carrying on as usual, doing the same thing over and over but hoping for a different result (which is, apparently, the definition of madness). We’re willing to spend some money but we want the change to happen overnight, and we completely ignore the fact that we did not gain all those kilos overnight.

We do not want to make any lifestyle changes even though lifestyle is what got us to this state in the first place (in most cases).  We do not want to make any sacrifices – heck, as women we sacrifice every day for everyone in our lives.  We do not want to think about the “F” word or the “C” words. Good fat/bad/saturated/unsaturated/poly/mono, calories, cellulite – horror! – carbs shmarbs, detox … We want this to be quick, easy, painless. 

And then poof! And we know in our hearts that if we want some real healthy results, this is the way to go.  There’s still plenty of time, but we need to move fast and get this done now.
