Prevent overeating by listening to your stomach, not your mind!

Listening to your stomach

When we listen to our stomachs, we tend to feel hunger as a source of discomfort. It is a way that our body has of telling us that we need to eat something, as our body may require nutrients and energy.

Think of infants. They cry to let us know that they are hungry. This signal is directed from their body and not from cravings. Similarly, infants also know when to stop eating. For example, a baby will push a bottle of milk away when he or she is satisfied.

Listening to your mind

Most people, especially adults, tend to listen to their mind when it comes to food. For example, when at a restaurant, you may feel satisfied after having eaten your main course, but you still order dessert, because that cheesecake looks just too decadent!

This is how most people tend to overeat – they continue to eat, even though their body may be telling them that they are full. Often this results in stomach discomfort, not to mention weight gain.

Try listening to your body next time you’re eating and you will be surprised at how much less you will consume and how much slimmer you will feel.
