Reduce your intake of sodium

Try reducing your intake of salt, as excess sodium contributes to water weight gain as well as hypertension – more commonly known as high blood pressure. This may increase your risk of heart disease.

How to reduce salt intake

Try to avoid or limit your intake of salty foods such as potato chips and other snacks. Opt to eat healthier foods which are good for you, your body and your weight instead. These include fruits and vegetables and whole grain products etc.

In addition, try not to add too much salt to your meals. You could rather focus on adding more flavour, by using fresh and dried herbs, garlic, onions, ginger, black pepper, spices and mild to hot chili peppers.
