Take a few minutes to get in tune with what you want for yourself and the week ahead – plan and let go of that idea of perfectionism.

Losing weight is all about getting in tune with what works for you and having patience with yourself.

Five easy Sunday planning ideas

  1. Plan your munchies. Write down an eating meal plan that includes main meals and snacks. If you're eating a lot of fresh produce, make a separate list for a quick midweek shop to stock up on fruits and veggies.

  2. Make workout appointments with yourself. If you're serious about losing weight, you need to schedule time during the week to exercise – even if it's only for 15 minutes a day, or squeezing in a few 10-minute sessions. Block off this time on your calendar, phone, or day planner.

  3. Lay out your gear. Make sure that you've got your sweat towel, water bottle, trainers, and clean workout clothes ready – ahead of time -- for the days you want to exercise.

  4. Get your equipment together. If you go to the gym, pack your bag in advance and leave it at the door. If you exercise at home, set out your dumbbells, mat, and workout DVD the night before.

  5. Chop and store. Spend some time in the kitchen chopping produce, cooking up batches of rice or pasta, and other food, for meals that you can make ahead of time, and store them.
