It's so easy to snack away and eat more, while we're getting lost in the latest episode of Days of our Lives or Isidingo.

And that's exactly where the problem lies.

We're not focused on what we're eating. Winter's just around the corner, so we should start a little preventative planning... especially before hitting the couch and diving under the blankets for those cosy movie nights in.

3 Tips to eat less in front of the TV

  1. Don't eat out of a bowl or a bag. Rather place a certain amount onto a plate and pace yourself. This will help you to not overdo it.

  2. Eat more protein-rich and healthier option foods. For example, swap those salty chips for some low-fat popcorn. Or stuff lettuce leaves with chicken and salsa instead of eating nachos.

  3. Watch what you drink, especially sodas, sugar-laden cool drinks or fruit juices. Opt for water instead – even if you flavour it yourself with lemon, mint, etc.
