Eat to a timer

Setting a timer at suppertime doesn't mean that you should dig in and race to see who finishes first!

It's the complete opposite. Eating your food slower has a lot of benefits. For one, it helps trigger the release of hormones that tell your body when you're full.

You'll enjoy your meal a lot more and learn to savour the taste of the food you're eating.

How to time your meals

You can use the oven or microwave timer, an alarm clock, or even a cell phone or an online timer.

Make sure that you set enough time to really chew your food properly and be able to talk, without rushing between bites. A good time to aim for is 20 minutes or more.
