Sweet, indulgent pancakes

Pancakes are one of life's most delicious breakfast or brunch indulgences. But they do tend to sneak in a number of naughty calories...

This doesn't mean that we can't find ways to make them healthy. After all, what's life without a good pancake or two (or three or four)?

Make them healthy

There are a couple of ways you can easily cut down on those pancake calories and make them healthier:

  • Use whole-wheat flour instead of normal cake flour

  • Choose skimmrd or low-fat milk over full cream

  • Skip adding sugar into the mixture altogether (flavour with vanilla essence instead)

  • Watch the amount of oil or butter you use for frying

Toppings and fillings

  • Go for low-fat plain yoghurt instead of cream

  • Fill or top with fresh fruit

  • Flavour with lemon juice, cinnamon, cranberries and nuts
