Tis the season to spring clean your kitchen and say adios to all those sneaky, naughty temptations.

There's no better time than right now to start getting healthier and feeling better about yourself – especially with the summer holidays just around the corner!

Spring cleaning your kitchen – where to start

The first place you want to start is the pantry. This is usually where all those salty snacks and sugary temptations are hiding.

Here are three things you need to get rid of – and leave off your future shopping lists:

  1. Packets of chips and cookies. These are packed with calories. When you get the craving, munch on mini rice cakes with a little peanut butter, or raw, crunchy veggies.

  2. Breakfast cereals. Most cereals – even muesli brands – are loaded with unnecessary sugar. Try a bowl of creamy, honey oatmeal, or overnight oats. You'll feel as though you're having dessert for breakfast!

  3. Sodas and juices. Even fruit juices contain sugar. Swap all cool drinks and juices in your house for plain or fresh lemon-flavoured water and homemade iced teas to save on extra calories.
