  1. Chew gum while you cook to keep from snacking.
  2. Flavour meat, stews, pasta, and soups with herbs, onions, and garlic instead of salt.
  3. Prepare a huge container of salad on Sunday for the week ahead. You'll be much more likely to pile half your plate with healthy greens.
  4. Cut vegetables into bigger chunks. This will force you to eat slower by chewing more, and your brain will recognise the “I'm full” sensation earlier.
  5. Aim to keep your meal between 400 and 600 calories.
  6. Swap your dinner-sized plates for side or salad plates.
  7. Use pesto or salsa in place of sour creams, butter, and creamy sauces.
