Here are some ways in which you could reduce your calorie intake when preparing French toast.

Use high fibre bread

Use high fibre or wholegrain bread, and avoid the refined versions when preparing French toast. Foods that are high in fibre will help you to feel fuller for longer.

Non-stick spray

Try using non-stick spray instead of oil or butter, when cooking French toast. You will be amazed at just how many calories you will be saving yourself from consuming!

Avoid egg yolks

Try to only use egg whites and limit the use of egg yolks when soaking the bread. You can add a pinch of cinnamon as well as some vanilla to help enhance the taste.

Swab with a serviette

After you have cooked the toast for a few minutes and it is golden brown in appearance, swab with a serviette before eating. The serviette will help absorb whatever excess fat is still on the bread.
