Burn calories with these simple exercises

Run in place

Stay where you are and start running on the spot, while pumping your arms and engaging your core. Remember to try to maintain an upright posture and keep your knees high as you perform this speed routine.

Hops

Try to perform small hops or jumps. You may find it helpful to place a ruler (horizontally) on the floor, to help you create a centre line – then start jumping from side to side of this line. If your floor is tiled, you could even draw a line lightly on the floor with chalk and clean it away afterwards. The cleaning or mopping of the room floor will help you burn more calories too!

Squat

Squats are a great way to burn calories! Every time you need to pick yourself up again, try jumping up vigorously as this will expel more energy and burn more calories. Squats can be done anywhere and do not require a lot of space. So try doing some during your lunch break at work or when advertisements are showing during your favourite television programme.

Always remember to consult with your doctor before you start any new exercise programme or make intense changes to your current one. This is especially relevant if you suffer from any medical conditions and for some reason are required not to place your body or yourself under any form of stress or strain.
