Fall in love with Brussels sprouts this autumn

If there's one universal veggie that gets a bad rap, it's Brussels sprouts. These mini green cabbages aren't everyone's cup of tea.

The goodness of Brussels sprouts

Despite being one of the most unpopular veggies around, these little cabbages are packed with good-for-you nutrients, like vitamin C, which functions as an antioxidant and helps your body ward off infections and viruses. They're also very low in sodium and fat, which makes them a super healthy vegetable to include in your family's diet.

How to fall in love with Brussels sprouts

The way these veggies are prepared makes a huge difference to their flavour, trust me! I've turned up my nose at Brussels sprouts many times and have only recently started enjoying these baby cabbages, and it's all because of the way they're prepared.

How to cook them

If you're not really a cabbage fan, do yourself a favour and try this delicious recipe. It's so easy, all you do is:

  • toss the ingredients - Brussels sprouts, maple syrup, herbs and a dollop of coconut oil, olive oil or unsalted butter - into a roasting dish/tray
  • pop them into a moderate oven for about 20 min...and wait for those mouthwatering flavours to intertwine!

Enjoy them as a light vegetarian meal with some toasted almond slivers or as a side veggie dish.
