We already know that yoga is great for stress relief and helping us feel calmer, but can it really help us lose weight?
The short answer is yes!
Doing relaxing yoga sequences, like Vinyasa yoga for example, helps you to become more aware of how your body feels. And by doing this, you naturally start to seek out ways to nourish it (because eating burgers and doing yoga just don't gel!).
Stress is also one of the most common reasons why women put on weight and yoga is a fantastic way to help combat that stress.
Realistically speaking, practising relaxing yoga won't burn the same number of calories as running, for example, but doing power yoga (an intense yoga workout) will amp up your calorie burn and help you shed weight faster.
So, if you're trying to lose weight or just de-stress, browse YouTube for some free Vinyasa or power yoga workouts that you can include a few times a week.
