Tropical salads are usually loaded with fruit, nuts and cheese as their main ingredients, so they can add hundreds of calories to your meal without you even realizing it.
Try adapting a typical tropical salad and make it more weight friendly so that you do not have to stress about putting on weight whilst enjoying in a nutritious meal.
The easiest way to do this is to reduce the amount of high calorie cheese that you include in the salad, and add a healthy source of protein. Beans make an excellent source of protein and are simply delicious to add to a salad. You could try reducing the number of nuts. Trick yourself by chopping the bigger nuts into halves or small pieces before adding it to your salad.
Remember that portion size still counts towards weight loss so cut down if you are consuming too much!
