The problem with sugar

Even for those of us who don’t have an uncontrollable sweet tooth, sugar is hidden in so many processed and packaged foods, that we end up eating more sugar than we realise.

To make matters worse, sugar is addictive. In fact, it’s said to be as addictive and deadly as nicotine and alcohol.

With the rising rates of obesity and refined sugar consumption, more people are questioning the connection. One of those people is David Gillespie, author of Sweet Poison. Frustrated with his weight, Gillespie decided to put his research on sugar to the test. He cut out sugar and lost 40 kilograms!

Gillespie says that sugar has been connected with far more than obesity. He says sugar gives us type-2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, heart disease and encourages the growth of cancer.
