Bloating is usually caused by gas or some other digestive distress in the gut, and is usually linked to a particular food you have eaten.

Here are 5 common foods that cause bloating and what you can replace them with to find relief:

1. Wheat

This is the food most commonly overlooked by people who feel bloated all the time. Wheat is generally used in refined foods and contains a protein called gluten which many people are sensitive to.

Wheat also contains large numbers of FODMAPS (fermentible oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides and polyols) which are short-chain carbohydrates that don't get digested and instead ferment in the gut and produce gas.

What to eat instead?

Honestly, there's no real reason to eat any wheat-containing food in the first place, but if you must, there are many wheat-free flours available to make your own bread/pizza/pasta etc.

You can also still eat quinoa, oats and buckwheat.

If you’re looking for an alternative to sandwiches, try rice cakes and corn crackerbread. You can also buy gluten-free breads at a number of grocery stores, but they do tend to be pretty pricey!
