Stop eating when you are satisfied

Do you find yourself doing this regularly? Do you eat until your plate is just as clean as it was when you first picked it up, before there was food on it?

Eating more food than your body needs (to provide it with sufficient energy for your daily activities) can make you gain weight, as your body will store as fat whatever energy it does not require in the short term. If you tend to do this on a regular basis, you could actually gain a lot of weight over time without you realising why.

A simple way to prevent gaining extra weight is to stop eating when you feel full. You could save the remainder of your food for a later snack or meal. Even better, consider starting with a small amount of food and take more food only if you are still hungry and feel that you need it.

Taking too much food initially can lead to overeating and this is one of the easiest ways to gain weight without even knowing it!
