Exercise tips for weight loss: Dont get hurt!

One of the most frustrating things that happens to people just starting out on a diet and exercise program is that they often get injured in training, shortly after they begin exercising. The result is weeks or months of no exercise while waiting to heal.

This usually happens because they have adopted an exercise regimen prescribed by someone who does not take the time to teach them the correct technique FOR EACH AND EVERY EXERCISE in the program.

If you take up running you need to be taught how to run efficiently and safely. If you take up lifting weights you need to be taught how to hold the bar, the correct movement patterns, and the correct range of motion. You can't just look at the pictures on a website or assume you know how to perform an exercise.

Protect your body with the correct technique

If you're starting to exercise after a period of inactivity your body is in no state to deal with unnatural movement patterns, and will not respond by 'bouncing back'. All of those little 'niggles' you have picked up over the years need to be protected and you can only do this by exercising using the correct form and technique.

Also, remember to start LIGHTLY. If you're doing cardio, don't do it until you get sick, and if you're lifting weights don't lift until something breaks. Ease into it, and use this time to really get you technique perfected.

Long-term progress is the goal here, so don't get HURT!
