Fashionable Nutrition Myths: Exercise means eating more?

(Fotalia: #87914769)

Over the last hundred or so years we humans have become more and more sedentary in our daily lives

Where most people used to do a fair amount of activity in their jobs, we now live in a world where technological advances – as well as an increase in overall laziness – have us using less and less energy during the work day.

And at the end of the day, we drive our cars to the corner shop to buy snacks so we can spend the evening watching TV, because the job we do is so 'tiring'.

Exercise is compulsory!

Due to our sedentary daily lives, EXERCISE has become a REQUIREMENT for anyone who wishes to be even moderately healthy and fit.

However, there is an unhealthy bit of logic that seems to have crept into the common thinking which says that “performing regular exercise makes it necessary for one to eat more food” to help fuel our exercise.

Now, if you're engaging in INTENSE training and your diet is well controlled by a nutrition coach, then you can eat more to support your training.

BUT the average person has more than enough fuel on board at any given stage to power then through a number of workouts (between calories in your body from food plus pre-stored body fat).

In short, DON'T eat loads and loads more just because you're exercising. Eat the same amount and let the exercise help change your body into a healthier version of itself. That's what it's for.
