Bow Pose

The following exercise is a yoga exercise. Your body will resemble the position of a bow being stretched when performed correctly.

Technique for the Bow Pose

Relax your muscles as you lie flat on your stomach. Now bend your knees so that you are able to bring your legs over your thighs. Use your hands to hold your ankles, that is, your right hand should hold your right ankle and similarly, your left hand should hold your left ankle.

Then gently, raise your head, body and your knees by holding tightly onto your ankles. You will find that you will be resting on your abdomen only. Your spine should be arched as much backwards as you can – this gives the effect of a bow being stretched.

Try to hold this position for about five to 10 seconds and do not jerk your body. You can do this technique three to four times.

Benefits to waist area

The above exercise will help to reduce fat around the waist area. Your back muscles become well massaged. In addition, it is a great exercise to help relieve constipation as well as gastro-intestinal disorders.
