Soshanna Katzman, a certified acupuncturist, director of the Red Bank Acupuncture and Wellness Centre in New Jersey, and co-founder of the Feeling Light weight-management programme, says that being ‘overweight is the symptom of fundamental imbalances in your body, emotions and mind’. These imbalances include emotional, nutritional, physical as well as mental imbalances.

Healthy smoothie for breakfast

Katzman suggests having the following smoothie for breakfast (to help restore this imbalance), for people who are wanting to lose weight. The smoothie contains essential minerals, vitamins, protein, fatty acids and fibre and will help reduce cravings as it is highly nutritious.

How to make the smoothie

All you need to do is blend the following ingredients together, mix and enjoy: one cup soy milk, one cup rice milk, one cup apple (orange or other) juice, one banana, four fresh strawberries, one teaspoon blackstrap molasses, one tablespoon aloe juice, one tablespoon black cherry juice concentrate, one to two tablespoons nutritional yeast, one tablespoon raw organic bee pollen and one tablespoon flaxseed oil.
