How green tea can help you beat cravings and lose weight

green-tea

Green tea is great for your health. But apart from all the health benefits of the warm drink, it can help you lose weight and beat cravings.

How it works

According to a study published in the journal Obesity [1], drinking green tea regularly helps in weight loss, especially around your waist. But what makes green tea great for weight loss is the fact that it contains a compound called epigallocatechin (EGCG) that helps boost your metabolic rate and helps beat cravings. This is one of the reasons nutritionists suggest drinking green tea throughout the day, especially a little after a meal — when those cravings strike.

Apart from that when you add some honey and cinnamon to the mix, it acts as a natural detoxifying agent and helps beat cravings too.

How to use it

  • Your favourite green tea
  • Warm water
  • Honey
  • Lemon and cinnamon

Method:

Take a glass of warm water, add some honey (as per your taste) and cinnamon powder. Now mix it well and add some green tea to it. If you are using a green tea bag, just leave the bag in till you think the tea is strong enough. And in case you are using loose leaf tea, use a tea strainer to steep the tea.

When and how to drink this mixture

Drinking this tea once after lunch is the best way to keep those sweet cravings at bay. Having it instead of an unhealthy snack is the best way to lose weight and keep the weight off.
