Chewing your food thoroughly is key. Your digstive system wants a break and this is a way to do that. Help the digestive system by chewing your food longer and slower. Well chewed food is digested quicker while still working a top capacity. You will enjoy your food more plus you will feel full.

Take less food in your fork or spoon and don't eat it until all the food already there is chewed up and ready to spit out. Try putting down you fork after every bite. You may pick it up again after all the food in your mouth has been chewed and you are then ready to take another fork full.

Your body won't tell you imediately if it is full or not. It takes a bit of time for that to register. But it eventually will. In this case if you continue to eat you will think you are still hungry and overeat. Never keep eating until you are full. Rather just eat enough to feel like you are now comfortable.
