Is The Apple Cider Vinegar Weight Loss Diet Worth The Hassle?

Apple cider vinegar has been used as a health tonic for many centuries. This single tonic has been reported to cure chronic fatigue, migraines, arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, and many other ailments. However, what is it and does the apple cider vinegar weight loss diet actually work?

Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting the juice of an apple and adding yeast and sugar. What people call the apple cider vinegar weight loss diet is simply the act of taking 1-3 teaspoons before each meal in the hope of losing weight. There is very little evidence, if any, that proves that the apple cider vinegar weight loss diet is effective for dropping the pounds.

The cider vinegar can be taken in liquid or tablet form when starting your apple cider vinegar weight loss diet. If taken in the liquid form, then the first thing you will notice when starting the apple cider vinegar weight loss diet is the dreaded taste.

The apple cider vinegar weight loss diet got its claim to fame in the 1950s when a country doctor wrote a book entitled, "Folk Medicine". His claim was that if you drink the tonic regularly it would cause fat to be burned and not stored. Some claim that the pectin in the vinegar will stick to your cholesterol and remove it from your body and that this is why the apple cider vinegar weight loss diet is effective for weight loss.

How does the apple cider vinegar weight loss diet work? Supposedly, it increases your energy, speeds up your metabolism, and also reduces your appetite. It's interesting to note that several diets advocate having an apple before your meals for similar benefits, and it's claimed that this also gives a metabolism boost and reduces your appetite before you eat.

Right now, however, despite what the apple cider vinegar weight loss diets claims about its ability to aid weight loss, I cannot recommend an apple cider vinegar weight loss diet simply because I have not seen any research that supports the many claims that the apple cider vinegar weight loss diet is known for.

If evidence existed for a product, would you agree that marketers would use results of placebo-controlled, double blind studies or references from peer-reviewed journals to back their claims that that apple cider vinegar weight loss diet is effective for losing weight? Well, apple cider has also been marketed as a solution for acne, arthritis, skin health, hair loss, high cholesterol, blood pressure problems and so much more, with little or no evidence mentioned.

I recommend you avoid the apple cider vinegar weight loss diet. If you want to improve your weight loss results, consider using extra virgin olive oil, drizzled on your salads and vegetables, as well as fish oil supplements, which are high in Omega 3, known for its remarkable health benefits. Other proven supplements include green tea, which is high in anti-oxidants.

As I always say, the key to losing the pounds is being more active and eating regular small healthy meals. Just a 30 minute daily walk will do more for you than any food supplement or wonder drug could. I feel that you should avoid the apple cider vinegar weight loss diet as it is yet another fad diet and there is next to no proof of its effectiveness.
