Calories and Weight Loss

In order to loose weight you must first understand the thing that makes you gain weight. Calories are found in every food and we cannot live without it, but what is a calorie? A calorie is the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of a liter of water one degree. Calories can’t be all bad because they are in everything we eat. One diet that I have found worth checking into is the crevax diet.

Eating food with calories is just like putting food in the gas tank of your car. The calories in the food burn in your body just the way gas burns in your car. If you overload your tank and eat too many calories you will gain weight. Each of us has a basic calorie need and this gives us the calories that we need to keep our bodies going. Once we go over that basic need the excess calories become fat. The average person needs form around 1,500 to 2,000 calories per day anything over that is excess.

In order for effective weight loss you must learn to count calories. You will have to burn about 3,500 calories to loose one pound. This may sound tough but if you set your mind to it you can burn that much calories and more before you realize it. One way to count calories is to make a journal of the food you eat, the portion size and the amount of calories you are taking in and then adding that up on a daily basis.

It would seem that the more you weigh the less calories you should eat to get your weight to the goal you want it at. But that is actually the opposite of what is true. Your body is use to a certain amount of calories and if you cut your calories too low you can make yourself sick. So if you are use to eating 2,000 calories it would not be a good idea to start a diet at 1,200 calories. Your body will feel like it is starving and you will get sick.

Have you ever wondered why you have to eat snacks like stalks of celery while that woman standing beside you is wearing a single digit dress and she is snacking on a dough-nut. First stop and consider that this may be her free day normally she works out and eats healthy. Another reason some people are able to eat high calorie food while others just gain weight by looking at it is each person has different metabolism. It could also be genetics. If you come from a family of overweight people chances are you wont get very far trying to get to the single digit dresses.

So when you are considering weight loss there are a few things for you to remember. The first thing is to consult your doctor before you begin any type of diet or weight loss program. Keep a food diary and learn to count and tract you calorie intake. Set a realistic goal and discipline yourself to make sure you achieve it. Understand metabolism. Get into an exercise program no diet will work without exercising on a regular basis. Stay the course don’t let anything get in your way.
