Know the Right Diet to Lose Weight Quickly and Effectively

With obesity being a risk factor in cardiovascular disease, diabetes type II, certain forms of cancer, gout, gallstones, and osteoarthritis, more and more people are looking to find ways to lose weight. Usually, they try out fad diets, strict exercise regimes, and fasting and find these methods simply wearisome or too difficult to stick to. Some resort to various drugs with negative side effects that outweigh the benefits. Achieving the desired weight can't be done in a day, or even seven days. It takes time, commitment, and a willingness to endure discomfort. Here are the basic principles behind losing weight.

Eat healthy - To lose weight, you don't really have to eat less. What you need to do is substitute fattening (essentially, foods high in calorie and fat) foods for less fattening ones. Change your diet to more lean cuts of meat, skim milk instead of whole, beans, fresh fruits and vegetables. No more fast food, no more fried anything, and very little sugar. A good example is snacking on carrot sticks or an apple instead of Snickers. This cuts down your calorie intake by about two hundred calories. Those extra two hundred calories may not really be needed by your body right after you ate it and whatever calorie your body does not need gets converted into fat.

A good way to curb those cravings is to include fiber in your diet. Not only does it wash out unwanted toxins and fat from your digestive tract, it also keeps you feeling of full longer. To add more fiber into your diet, simply look for whole grain products like whole grain bread and pasta. Oats and bran are excellent sources of fiber too. So are fruits like apples, grapefruit, and bananas.

Another trick is to drink some water between bites. This will give your stomach time to stretch and realize that it's already full. Eating slowly will also help you prevent overeating. Overeating usually occurs because you eat too fast to notice that you've eaten too much. Having a bowlful of oats with honey and apple slices with a glass of grapefruit or orange juice for breakfast is a great way to start your day.
