Give Yourself a Cellulite Reduction Massage

A cellulite reduction massage is one of the most effective ways of breaking up cellulite so that the body is able to flush it away. Most places that offer therapeutic massages and health clubs now include cellulite reduction massages among the services on offer. But if you do not have place for a massage near you, or you just can’t fit a massage into your schedule, why not think about DIY?

Giving yourself a cellulite reduction massage is not as difficult as it sounds. After all, the areas of the body where cellulite accumulates are easy to reach – the thighs, stomach and butt. In fact the only area you can’t massage yourself, unless you try using a hand held cellulite massage roller, is your back. And how many people have cellulite on their backs?

A DIY cellulite reduction massage is a simple five step process. Try and do it at least 3 times a week (preferably more) to get appreciable results. And if you have many cellulite pockets to be massaged, break it up into multiple sessions. Trying to massage your thigh when your arms are aching is pretty pointless.

Giving Yourself A Cellulite Reduction Massage

Start off with a warm (not hot) shower to cleanse the skin and open the pores. Dry yourself completely. Do not try to massage damp skin.

Apply a small amount of oil or moisturizing lotion to the cellulite affected area. Any oil or lotion will do. Use just enough to lubricate the area so you can massage it comfortably. Do not use so much that the skin becomes slippery – you will not be able to apply pressure properly. You are now ready to begin your cellulite reduction massage.

Start the massage by applying pressure with the palm and rubbing in a circular motion. Gradually increase the pressure, while keeping a constant circular speed. If need be use the heel of the palm to apply as much pressure as you are comfortable with. Never press down so hard that it becomes really painful. You should feel the pressure, not the pain. This action will loosen up the cellulite.

After about 10 minutes of the circular press, switch to a kneading action, as if the cellulite affected area is a piece of dough. That means gently pinch, push and prod the area. Once more, be firm but do not massage hard enough to cause pain. This action will break up the cellulite deposits. Keep on doing this for about 10 minutes.

By the time you finish step four, your cellulite reduction massage will have loosened and broken up some of the cellulite deposits so the body can flush them away. End by using the palm and your finger tips to smooth out the skin with firm strokes. This will smooth out the remaining fat and reduce the lumpy cellulite look as well as firm up the skin.

Do not expect miracles – it will take weeks before you see the results. But the same would apply if you went in for a professional massage. Combine this cellulite reduction massage process with sensible diet and exercise to get the best results.
