How to Lose Body Fat – 3 Common Mistakes on How to Lose Body Fat

If you want to know how to lose body fat, you'll need to make sure to avoid a few common mistakes. Be careful, because most people that go on diets or try to eat healthy end up making these very mistakes.  Here are 3 of the most common mistakes people make on how to lose body fat.

1. Eating too Many Carbs

Although many nutritionists are coming around and realizing that carbs aren't so great for us, and that healthy fats can be better, many people still don't understand.  A lot of people who don't know how to lose body fat think that carbs are fine to eat, as long as they don't eat too much fat.

Nothing could be further from the truth!  I'm not endorsing a super high-fat, super low-carb diet here, but too many carbs will absolutely impede your weight loss.  You need to eat a few modest portions of whole grains early in the day and just fibrous veggies in the evening.  Avoid flour and other processed carbs such as sugar like the plague.

2. Eating Too Little

Many people who don't know how to lose body fat but are desperate to do so go on starvation diets where they eat way fewer calories than their body needs to function.  Not only do they feel like crap on this kid of diet, but they shut down their body's metabolism and ability to burn fat.

What you should do instead is to eat around 500 fewer calories than your body expends each day.  This way, your body will slowly eat away at your fat stores without making you feel tired and without wreaking havoc on your metabolism!

3. Weighing Too Often

People who don't know how to lose body fat are often way, way too fixated on the number they see on the scale.  The thing is that your bodyweight can easily fluctuate with difference in water, fat, and muscle tissue.  A better idea is to see how you look in the mirror and how your clothes fit.  If these things are improving, you're good to go!
