Finding diets that work fast really is no longer a challenge. Finding diets that work fast that you can stick with; is now the challenge.

A lot of people; and a lot of diet plans; do not take into account the fact that losing weight is simply a matter of consuming fewer calories than we burn; and how the body reacts to getting fewer calories than what it expects.

Your body comes to expect the amount of food and the number of calories that it is accustomed to. It does not "know" that it is over weight and needs to shed pounds; it only knows that it is not getting what it is accustomed to. The natural result is that your body will slow it's metabolism in order to conserve calories (energy) when you start a weight loss program.

The body is programmed to maintain; not to lose.

This is why diets are hard; and why they often fail; in the absence of stupendous will power.

The less you eat; the fewer calories your body will burn; the fewer calories you burn; the less weight you will lose.

That is why we must seek other avenues in the "battle of the bulge". We must look for weight loss programs that do not rely upon reduced calorie diets or "no-carb" diets, which I do not think are healthy because you should not try to avoid all of a major food group.
