How to Get Rid of Fat Arms

There are exactly 2 ways to get rid of fat arms if this is one of your personal trouble areas. If you lack the means to do one, you’ll probably want to do the other.

The first method of getting rid of fat arms is through liposuction surgery. Your total time commitment for this method is around 90 minutes. The downside is that you need to cough up between $8,000 and $15,000 for the work. This will take about a pound of fat out of each arm. The good news is that the scars are barely visible as your surgeon will most likely close the cut deep in the armpit area.

The second way to get rid of fat arms is burn the fat off - naturally. You need to put more time and effort in with this method, but you gain something with this method that you don’t get from the first option: an enormous sense of self-satisfaction when you reach your goal. Oh, and savings in the neighborhood of $10,000.

You may be wondering: Can I target just the fat on my arms and save some time and effort ?

No. Unless, of course, you take option #1.

Think of it this way…how often do you see people with perfectly toned arms while the rest of their bodies are covered in mounds of fat? You can’t just get rid of fat arms any more than you can do this with the thighs, belly or hips.

Fat storage is genetic, and ‘spot training’ does not work. Those who try to convince you that it does are probably trying to sell you something through an easy answer, and are frankly wasting your time – time that you could be using to burn fat until you start seeing results on your arms.

Another myth bust for those who hold it: Muscle does not turn into fat; they are separate kinds of tissue. Fat does, however, cover the muscle, hiding it from sight until the fat is burned away through exercise. It is this ‘cover’ that you need to get rid of but, again, you can’t ‘spot train’ fat like you can with muscle.

There’s little more theory you will need beyond this. If you are not currently engaged in aerobic exercise, with a few pinches of weight training thrown in, then that is where your time and energy need to go to get rid of those fat arms– unless you have several thousand dollars to spend.

Although spot training does not work in and of itself to get rid of fat arms or other stubborn places, you are still doing yourself some good to get working with some free weights. The reason is twofold: First, your arms will look better when you begin dissolving the fat with aerobic exercise; and second, weight training in general increases your lean body mass which boosts your metabolism. When you boost the metabolism, you are burning more calories during the normal course of a day even while at rest.

So, to get maximum results naturally, you will want to:

Start off at a comfortable pace, but work gradually towards 25 – 45 minute cardio sessions so that you get past the point where you are burning glycogen (stores of carbohydrates) and burning the fat that you want rid of. Aim to do 3 to 6 sessions a week. Engage in weight training. For the reasons pointed out above, you’re doing yourself a HUGE favor by performing both aerobic and resistance training exercises. Use free weights to get maximum results, and again, work your way up gradually. If you want to target the arms with your weights, you may want to do a mixture of curls (for the biceps), and kickbacks and extensions (for the triceps). Aim to do two or three 30-minute sessions a week Avoid throwing fuel on the fire. Those unwanted fat arms are being shaped by the foods you eat, so you need to minimize those loaded with saturated fats (ice cream, pastry, fatty meats, etc) and replace them with more lean proteins (fish, skinless chicken, soy, etc) complex carbohydrates (green vegetables, whole wheat breads, oatmeal, etc) and unsaturated fats (fish, avocados, natural peanut butter, flax seed oil, etc).

This may sound like a lot of work, and I would love to tell you that 10 minutes of bicep curls each day will get rid of fat arms. But I don’t like to have my time wasted through ineffective advice and will assume the same for you. Instead I will enjoy telling you that if you possess the character to commit to the requirements above, you will put a massive dent in the fat in your arms and gain a great deal of self-esteem in the process.

I learn from the very best - the most successful 'fat-burners' who win the battle over failure and self-hatred to lose all those unwanted pounds of body fat...
