Motivation To Lose Weight

The vast majority of these resolutions get off to a good start, but in a relatively short time are put aside, and life goes on as usual. Keeping a resolution to lose weight and/or to exercise more, can be difficult for the average person who may have nothing but their own will power to nudge them to continue with their resolve. Many of us just do not have that determination to continue, for the long term, with our chosen program. Other pressures can be heavy and can lead to us gradually falling away from our resolution. There is always something calling us that makes it easy to opt out for one day. This starts the downward spiral which ends with returning to our former lifestyle.

What can be done to help us to maintain our weight loss and exercise program? Well one factor which many people, who are successful in their efforts, have in common is ownership of a piece of home exercise equipment. It may be a stationary bike or a treadmill or something else. Statistics show that those who own exercise equipment are more likely to maintain their program. Another thing most successful weight loss people have in common is that they all eat breakfast. Missing breakfast may seem like a way to eliminate calories from the daily diet. However it rarely works, since this often leads to heavy eating during the day. After a decent breakfast it is easier to keep lunch and snacks under control, and keep total calorie consumption lower.

For most of us time to exercise is scarce. There is work, family pressures and appointments to keep which continually take precedence over our exercise time. Unless we have a strong will to continue, our exercise program can fade away. A really good way to avoid this is to exercise regularly with a friend or exercise buddy. You will have an appointment to keep with this person, which is just as important as anything else. Maybe you meet at the gym daily at a set time or perhaps at the park for the morning run. This gives you something to look forward to. You can enjoy a discussion of mutual interests as you exercise and this makes the time slip by very quickly. No more "Am I finished yet?" as you carry on an interesting conversation with your friend. The exercise time goes quickly and enjoyably and you look forward to the daily meeting.

Again statistics confirm that exercising with a buddy is a good way to keep on track and stay with your program. If you don,t have a friend to exercise with you can find websites which connect you with people who you can buddy with online, to talk about your programs and encourage one another. This type of connection can give great encouragement, and enable you to keep on with your diet/exercise program.
