The Type Of Exercise In A Diet Makes A Difference

You have chosen the perfect diet to fit your lifestyle and tastes and your planning to start this new diet plan. You realize that you need to exercise but what exercise works best. Let's be honest here if you are obese, more than 30 pounds, any exercise you do will be something new and will immediately show a difference in your weight. By immediately I mean within the first couple of weeks you will notice a difference in what you are able to do from before.

Not all exercises are created equal and you should realize this when putting a quality plan together. There are literally hundreds of books that you can read about exercises and routines. Fortunately for you all you need to do initially is increase the amount of exercise you do now and decrease the amount of food eaten and you will start to lose weight. Your diet should be designed to make the maximum usage of the exercise. Do not eat right after you exercise especially in the morning or evening. If you do this your body will replenish its energy reserves from the food you are eating rather than from the fat you have stored.

There are two types of diet that are used in all sorts of weight loss programs. There is aerobic and anaerobic. In any good and well though out diet you should incorporate both of these type of exercises in your weight loss plan. By doing both of these diets you use your body to burn fat both while you are exercising and at rest. Both of these two types of exercise use energy from your body differently. Aerobic exercise uses oxygen and is a low impact and a gradual burning of calories. Walking, jogging, cycling, stationary bike, and yoga are some aerobic exercises. These will use the energy that is stored in your body such as fat as you tend to use large amounts of oxygen when doing these exercises.

The anaerobic exercises uses short burst of energy and use the energy stored in your muscles and surrounding tissue. These short burst of exercise use all the energy stored and as your muscle get stronger the exercise becomes easier and then you add more weight or resistance. The anaerobic exercises are the exercises that require short burst of energy such as weight lifting, sprints and activities with built in rest periods.

You want to build up your muscles so that they will require more energy to move and even rest. Yes this is how you lose weight while resting or watching TV. Remember your body needs energy even at rest and will draw on your fat reserves if necessary to keep you breathing or relaxing. The body uses energy for every bodily function from drinking water to eating and exercising. So with the increase in muscle mass will also increase the amount of calories burned.

You are not looking at a large amount of calories burned while you are at rest but it will add up/ When planning you exercise program start out gradually usually with walking or cycling. You can use a stationary bike and do a minimum of 20 minutes and no more than 60. But if you are overweight and out of shape you will have a hard time getting to the 20 minutes. You can do this type of exercise twice a day if you have the time because you need to burn 3500 calories to lose a pound of fat. After a period of time and your body becomes acclimated to exercise start a anaerobic program if for no other reason to firm up your skin as the fat starts to burn off. Do not worry you will not become muscle bound. You would need a immense amount of work and weight loss to achieve this goal.

Do not waste your time with the 20 pounds in 20 day diets and supplements that promise you to lose weight while you continue to eat whatever you want. These are scientific impossibilities and if they did happen they would be a scientific discovery and then the FDA would want to know what was going on. So exercise and when in doubt exercise some more.
