Stop Hunger Cravings

Do you often find yourself lusting after a piece of chocolate? A slice of cake? A bag of potato chips? You're not alone, but you know that you can't keep giving in to your cravings and still hope to lose weight. It won't be easy, but it will definitely be worth it. Here are a few tips. I have used each and every one of them, and they have worked like a charm.

Drink Up!
A glass of water may just do the trick. It's possible that you're actually thirsty, not hungry. Besides, drinking 8 8 oz. glasses of water every day has other benefits besides stopping hunger cravings. You'll have an increased metabolism, and you'll get to visit the bathroom 10 times a day for a few days!

Time Yourself
Go out and buy a stopwatch. Whenever you feel hunger cravings setting on, just whip out your stopwatch and start it. If after 15 minutes, you still feel the burning NEED to have your food, go get it. Food cravings only tend to last 5-15 minutes. If you can weather the storm, you can make it through to a slimmer you.

Avoid Your Trigger Foods
Some of us have trigger foods. I know that if I eat one potato chip, the whole bag is gone. So I stay away from chips as much as possible and resist even just one when they're put right in front of me. It's pretty tough, but I know it's easier than working it off on the treadmill tomorrow (and the day after that, and the day after that...).

Deal With Trigger Emotions
If stress, anger, depression, or anxiety makes you want to stuff your face, you may have an overeating problem. You may be using food to avoid dealing with your painful emotions. You might want to use the stopwatch tip above and while you're waiting, try to figure out how you feel and to confront and resolve that feeling rather than eating away at it.
