Reduce Cellulite - Is It Possible?

There are many common methods out there to reduce cellulite. It's important to realize that what works well for one person, may not work so well for the next. It's important to understand how it's caused, in order to understand how many of the cures out there work.

Cellulite is caused by irregular skin cells that form an extreme cross-hatched pattern on your skin, which then end up holding fat deposits within them rather than below the surface of the skin like normal. With this in mind, it's going to be easier to find ways to effectively reduce cellulite, as many publications will try to tell you this is solely a problem caused by weight gain, when in fact weight has very little to do with cellulite formation.

Treatments

Exercise: As mentioned, this is a genetic skin disorder, but the less fat you have on your body, the less fat will be available to the cellulite cells in your skin. Try to get as much exercise as you can, including cardiovascular, muscle toning and plyometric exercises (E.g., simply clenching and releasing different muscle groups while watching TV, or at the computer can be considered plyometrics and can considerably tone your skin.)

Topical: A good topical treatment geared to reduce cellulite deposits is a great idea. Caffeine enriched treatments, with other skin nourishing conditioners is a must for your routine.

Laser: Since we're dealing with a skin disorder, laser treatment is something to be considered. While the cost is much higher and varies from area to area: Laser treatments are known for their ability to alter the cells in our bodies. The laser can actually break up the affected cells, causing them to heal faster and increase collagen production. The increased collagen production theoretically makes your skin more flexible and reduces the cross-hatching of the skin cells.
