Abdominal Exercises to Get Rid of Tummy Fat

You may not know that one of the best ways to burn fat is to build muscle, and one of the best ways to crank up your fat burning is with weight training. Did you know that each pound of lean muscle you gain will help you burn an additional 50 calories per day? Put on 5 pounds of muscle and you'll be burning an extra 250 calories each day simply by doing nothing. This applies to both men and women.

Some of the top muscle building exercises are compound exercises, which involve multiple joints. Exercises such as squats, military press, and bench press are compound exercises. For ladies, you maybe thinking: "Gee, I don't want to get buff!" Don't worry. You will not get overly built or extremely muscular by weight training. There's simply no downside to exercising.

There are even many studies that have indicated that intense exercises helps stimulate energy expenditure long after you've finished your workout. What this means is that you have an elevated metabolism for hours after your workout, which will help you burn more calories.

Ab Exercises for a Toned Stomach

There are dozens of ab exercises you can perform to work your abs; however, keep in mind that to get your ab muscles to show, you need to have low enough body fat. So while the exercises we list below will work your ab muscles, to have your abs showing, you need to get rid of your tummy fat.

Abdominal twists - Lying on the floor with feet flat on the floor and hands behind your head, curl up and touch your left knee toward your right elbow. Then twist the other way by pointing your left elbow toward your right knee.

Lying Leg Raises - lying down, place your hands under your bum and extend your legs fully. Keep your heels off the floor. Raise your legs up all the way, then lower it back down without touch the floor.

Abdominal Tuck Crunches - lying on your back, lift up your legs so that the bottom of your feet are facing the ceiling. Cross your arms across your chest or hold them behind your head. Curl your shoulders off the floor toward your legs, and then back down to starting position.

Again, please keep in mind that doing abdominal exercises such as these will work your stomach muscles, but they will do little to get rid of your tummy fat. To successfully get rid of your belly fat, you need a complete diet program. The Fat Loss for Idiots diet can help you achieve your weight loss goals.
