Nutrisystem Breakfast – How Does it Taste? Is It Good? What Foods Are Included?

When I am asked about Nutrisystem, I'm often asked about the breakfast foods. I think this is because in the world of low carb or other diets, most don't allow you to eat the convenient breakfast foods which most people enjoy, like cereal or pancakes. Instead, you're forced to eat eggs and bacon all of the time, which is usually a bit time consuming and can get old after a while.

Luckily, this is not true with Nutrisystem. Although Nutrisystem is a diet with a favorable glycemic index, you are allowed carb type breakfast foods like cereal, muffins, and pancakes. Here is an overview of some of the offerings and their taste.

Cereal: This was a huge draw for me because most diets don't allow cereal or if they do, it tastes like cardboard. This diet allows a few really good varieties like NutriFlakes (which I would compare to raisin bran), NutriFrosted Crunch (which I would compare to Frosted Flakes), NutriCinnamon Squares (a lot like Cinnamon Life),and low fat granola (which is a bit like Muselix). All are these are really quite decent and I find that are great as a snack.

Pancakes/ French Toast: The company offers two pancake mixes: regular and blueberry. Both are pretty good, I like to pre make and freeze them so that all I have to do is pop them in the toaster in the morning.  The select plan offers very good frozen french toast.

Muffins: There is a phenomenal blueberry muffin offered on this plan. It is my all time favorite. It is nice sized, moist, and filling. I was afraid it would be dry or crumbly but it is not either. There is also a cranberry orange pasty (I don't like this one, because I don't like cranberries) and an apple strudel scone (quite good) offered as well.

Oatmeal: If you like Quaker brand instant oatmeal, you'll probably like these. The diet offers apple cinnamon (the best flavor in my opinion) and maple brown sugar.

Granola Bars: If you like the flavor and convenience of granola bars, then you're in luck because Nutrisystem offers lots of variety here. There is: chocolate chip, cranberry, apple, and peanut butter to choose from. My favorite is the peanut butter because I find it very filling.

Eggs: I know I promised carb options in this article, but I do have to mention the eggs because they are pretty convenient and they taste better than expected. There are the regular scrambled eggs, the scrambled eggs with cheddar, and the eggs with veggie sausage crumble. For a long time, I avoided the veggie sausage until I gave it a chance. It is now my favorite and I still am not sure how it is diet food. I'm not a vegetarian, but I do love it. I sometimes put it in a fat free tortilla with salsa and eat it as a lunch time wrap.

There's also omlets available in the nutrisystem select line.
