Why Losing Weight Is Challenging

Once you gain weight doesn't it seem that it may never disappear no matter what you do?  The reason that it may seem difficult to get rid of is because obesity is a chronic condition.  It cannot be treated effectively with a pill or any other quick fix.  There is no simple way to lose weight, you must do the work and also work to maintain it.

Every person is different and every person loses weight differently.  It is also unrealistic for some people to lose as much weight as one another because we are all different.  It is still a mystery to some people why some people gain weight very easily and why some lose it very easily.  Obesity may run in your family, but you may make the right food and conditioning choices and never face dangerous obesity.  On the other hand, if obesity does run in your family and you chose not to alter your lifestyle to differ that of your families the odds of you being overweight are extremely high.

Losing weight takes the support of family, friends, and sometimes professionals.  If you don't have the right support system in your life to get and keep the weight off you are very likely to fail.  You environment has a lot to do with the choices that you make.  If you don't have a strong support system the best thing to do is to join a group that specializes in weight issues.

Sometimes when we are looking to lose weight we set our sites to high at first.  Even if you are obscenely overweight it may be better to aim for small amounts of weight loss in the beginning and than set your aims higher as you progress.  The key is to take it slow and build in small improvements that you make over time.  For example, if you are at 200 and want to get to 150 don't try to lose the whole 50 pounds all at once.  The key is to focus on maybe just losing 10 percent, or just 5 pounds, in the beginning.  Once you hit that goal look to lose another 5 pounds and than move forward to other goals from there.

It's hard to lose weight, but everyone knows that it is even harder to keep the weight off.  It seems that when we have finally hit our goal of losing all this weight, some strange force keeps bringing us back to the state of being overweight again and again.  The worst part about this is that once you have gained the weight back it seems that you gain it back and than some.  It is a vicious cycle that proves that most diets just don't work.

The majority of diets are short-term solutions.  The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to change your lifestyle.  You need to develop you own personal plan, but be flexible enough to remain happy.  In order to succeed you need to find a plan that is you own and that will work.  There are many professional that can help you achieve this.
