How To Have Success On The Medifast Diet

I can remember vividly when I was researching the medifast diet. There is one page on their website in which they proudly list their "medifast success stories."  They actually have them separated into the amount of pounds lost.  There are categories for 40 pounds, 50 pounds, and then on up to 100 plus pounds.  I used to browse all of these, look at the people who have lost so much weight that they don't even look the same person,  and think, "man, if I could only get to the first tier, (the 40 pounds), I would be absolutely ecstatic. I would be so happy that, even if I never lost another pound, I would feel like a success."

Have you ever wondered how the people on the site have so much success and lose so much weight? Well, I've noticed some things they all have in common and I will share this in the following article.

What All Of The Medifast Success Stories Have In Common: I used to spend a lot of time studying the stories and what each dieter had in common with the other and here is what I discovered.  Almost none of them planned for or went in to it thinking there were going to have these dramatic results.  What I mean by this is that they focused on smaller, obtainable goals rather than large ones.  Much like myself, they usually went into it thinking they'd be happy with twenty plus pounds and then once they reached that goal, they then set a new goal.

I find that it's very important not to put too much pressure on yourself.  Dieting is a moving target. There is no question about this. No one can do it perfectly day in and day out.  Some days will be better than others. The important thing is to keep your eye on the prize and to not give up.

So many people will "fall off of the wagon" one day and allow this to bleed into the next day until they've given up all together.  There's no reason that, if you do cheat or take a few days off, that you get right back to it by the third day.  No one expects perfection and perfection isn't what makes you successful on medifast.  Persistence is. That is the secret in a nutshell. Keeping at it over time.  And taking the small victories that lead you to huge wins.

I started this diet at about the same time a girlfriend of mine did. I admit that I take liberties with the food. For example, I will add fat free whipped cream or fat free syrups to the shakes or fat free sour cream to the chili.  My friend was very much against this, telling me that this was cheating.  Maybe it was or still is, but these small changes have meant that I am still on this diet and that I no longer look like the same person.  Don't hesitate to do what works for you.  Whatever it takes to keep at it is fair game, in my opinion.

Notice That Most People Who Had Drastic Results / Huge Medifast Successes Have Eventually Added In A Tiny Bit Of Exercise: If you look really hard, you may find a person or two who lost tons of weight without exercise.  But, I find that the people who lose a lot of weight and keep it off have made at least a small commitment to exercise.  I admit that I hate to sweat and I am no athlete, but once the weight started to come off, I really wanted to tone up too. So, I just started adding more walking to my routine and I saw a big difference.  This motivated me to add ankle weights on my walks and eventually, now,  a weight vest.

The folks who really transform their life with medifast use each little victory to set new, higher goals.  This is not as hard as it sounds.  To use myself as an example, each time I reached my goals, it was a no brainer to just keep going.  I think the real "key to success" is just to keep going.  (This is true of any diet, but I feel that this one really does give you the proper tools to do this.)  That's it.  Just keep going, day by day, pound by pound.
