Can I Indulge While On A Diet?

Can I Indulge While on A Diet?

One of the reasons that diets fail is people think that can't indulge while on a diet. When you have a craving to eat or drink something, then do it. Being too strict on yourself will cause you to binge, lose focus, and give up trying to reach your weight loss goals.

Once a week I allow myself to indulge by eating dessert and a couple times a week eating a sweet snack. Now I'm not saying to sit down with a full bag of Oreo's and milk. Which is one my weakness and once I start I have a hard time stopping. Most products now a day's have their nutritional values listed online. By doing a little comparison research you can find a snack that you like that won't cost you too many calories.

There are so many snacks that are low calories and taste really good. I, personally, like Special K Raspberry Cheesecake Bar. The best part is that its only 90 calories. They are small enough to keep one in my purse or in the truck when I'm out and about. If your weakness is soda, Dr. Pepper Ten taste like regular soda and only has 10 calories. LOL yup these are what I go to when I'm having a sweet tooth moment.

By including a sweet low calories snack or dessert, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. This could help keep you from going on a sweet rampage on everything in the house. I have been there before and after you have crossed that line, it could cause you to lose focus cause you can't stop thinking about what you can't have. That would suck especially if you are so close to getting to your goal weight.

Also, this goes for all foods not just sweets. There are so many fad diets that ask people to give up food items such as carbs. I don't know about you, but I love toast or english muffins with my breakfast some days. If you want a piece of toast or a sandwich, then eat it with enjoyment. Plus carbs do have help with weight loss while keeping muscles. Telling yourself that you are not allowed something, it's just going to make you want it more. This is what leads to wanting it so bad until you eat it. You then end up going on a binge instead of just eating a little.

By eating that one cookie, it's not going to make or break your diet plan. By eating that one regular hamburger at McDonald's for lunch does not mean you failed your diet. Just remember to include it in your daily calorie intake so you don't go over your calories for the day. Include it in one of your meal plans for the week and indulge while on a diet.

I think it's a good thing to indulge while on a diet. It feeds that sweet tooth or the craving for a burger. Once you fill that want, then you can stop thinking about it and move on. If you're worried about the extra fat intake, then you could always raise your metabolism a little more for that day to help burn off the fat.

Remember taking anything to the extreme, even no sweets or sugar, can cause medical problems for you. Before you radically alter your calorie intake or eliminate entire food groups from your diet, it's best to consult your doctor.
