How To Snack On A Diet, Healthy Foods To Eat.

You know everybody loves to snack from time to time and I say, that's okay, even when you're on a diet. A lot of people believe it's an activity that can lead to extra calorie consumption and can blow a diet plan. This is not necessarily true. Having intermittent snack times throughout the day can help you actually keep your diet on track and prevent you from episodes of binge eating near the end of the day.

The idea here is, intermittent snack times evenly spaced between meals with healthy foods to eat on hand., allowing you to take a little break, (provided you would like a snack at that time). Your choice of snack is the make or break deal here. Prepair in advance only healthy snack foods that are light in calories, high in nutrition and preferably unprocessed. It is known that an apple actually acts as a natural appetite suppressant when consumed by itself as a snack. Apples are a great place to start on an intermittent snack regiment provided that they are low sugar varieties. The small tart varieties are a better choice.

There are also a variety of raw trail mixes that are low in calories from the bulk bins at your store. Do however avoid the ones with chocolate or M&Ms in them, that make then addictive and can cause you to over eat them. Chocolate is better saved for a dessert item or treat, and does not make a good snack choice.

There's a large variety of raw nuts available. Raw nuts are a better choice than roasted ones because they satisfy the craving naturally without the added salt and flavorings which can lead to over eating. Raw almonds, raw cashews and pumpkin seeds, are all great choices. 5 to 8 nuts being a good limit per snack break.

Avoid processed snacks like crackers, cookies, chips and pretzles. They can have additives in them that make you want to eat more. This is a strategy used by many snack manufacturers to increase sales of their products, in complete disregard for the health of the consumer.

Having a bottle of water to drink along with your snack is a great idea because this will also aid in keeping you hydrated. Same rule applies here to consuming liquids which is better for your body if your eight glasses per day is spaced out evenly, so what better way then to pair this up with your snack time or meal. Water also works as a natural appetite suppresant.

Intermittent snacks are great because they keep the blood sugar level. Spikes and dips in your blood sugar are the main cause for irregular eating, When you have your blood sugar on even keel, then your appetite is in control. Your metabolism is also enhanced by the intermittent consumption of healthy foods throughout the day. When your energy level is up and even with your blood sugar then your activity usually follows suit, burning more calories and giving you the energy to remain active.

When the snack choices are healthy foods that fuel you and add a spring into your step, then you can actually be more productive. So enjoy your snack times and make good use of the added energy.
