Successful Weight Loss – Do You Know The Big Secret?

When it comes to losing weight people can encounter obstacles when trying to get started. A lot of people just don’t have a clue where to start, so they procrastinate. It really doesn’t matter whether you just need to lose a few pounds or a hundred, this will help you either way. Successful weight loss is just around the corner.

If you are like a lot of people, me included, you have been battling those extra pounds for a long time. How depressing is it when you realize your clothes are feeling tight again? You can be going along great and then one day, your favorite jeans just…will…not…zip!

The first step in successful weight loss is to set yourself some tangible goals. These goals will be your ‘mile markers’ on your journey to lose weight. These mile markers, or goals, will help you track where you are and how far you have to go to reach the final destination, a slimmer, healthier you.

Ask yourself these two questions:

1. How much weight do you want to lose?

2. What is your target date to have that goal reached?

Write it down on a sheet of paper. Writing down your goals is a very good way to remind yourself of what they are and where you are heading. You might even think of putting them on ‘post it’s’ and putting them in strategic places so you see your goals every day.

An awesome place to put a post it would be on the refrigerator. That way when the ‘munchie demons’ try to tempt you, there are your goals, right there in your face.

You realize, of course, that just setting goals is not enough. In order to make sure you achieve your goal, it must be realistic. For example, setting a goal to lose 30 pounds in two weeks is completely unrealistic and you will be setting yourself up for failure and frustration.

So don’t sabotage yourself before you even start! If you work through it slowly and safely, you should expect to lose no more than 1 or 2 pounds a week. If you are looking to lose, say 60 pounds, a realistic time frame would be 6 or 7 months.

Position yourself to succeed by setting small, achievable goals. That way when you reach a mile marker you can celebrate getting there. Then you can move confidently forward. And that may be the biggest secret to successful weight loss there is.
