Exercise for the Home

Do you want to exercise but you can’t find the time to go to the gym? Do you want to save your money and not buy expensive weight lifting equipment? There are a lot of exercises you can do at home without the use of weights or other exercise paraphernalia. You can do it using your own body weight.

The Basics of Exercising at Home

Since you’ll be working out without a trainer, it’s important you know the proper form of each exercise. If you don’t do it properly, the exercise won’t be as effective and you might even get injured. Research the exercises and try to follow it as closely as you can. If you can’t do a certain exercise, that’s okay. Keep it for a later time when you can do the more advanced routines.

Exercises at Home

  1. Walking. This exercise is often overlooked because it’s so easy and everyone can do it. If it doesn’t require effort, it’s useless, right? Wrong. Walking can be just as effective as jogging. Walk around the house. If you have stairs, walk up and down it for a few minutes. Walking up and down your street is good as well.
  2. Jumping Jacks. You probably learned how to do this as a kid, but this is a very effective exercise. It’s easy and it can be fun. You can do 3 sets of jumping jacks with 15 repetitions each set.
  3. Pushups. Pushups are very effective because it’s a compound exercise. It will work your arms, chest, shoulders and back. While not a lot of people can do it right at the start, there are some modifications you can do so it’s more accessible. Instead of using your toes to keep you up, use your knees and push up from there. You can change it when you are able.
  4. Crunches. People would die to have abs. The good news is you don’t need any special equipment to get it. Even people at the gym lie down on the floor and do crunches. This can be done at home easily. Start with 3 sets of 20 repetitions.
  5. Squats. For a total body workout, you might want to do squats. This is an effective way to strengthen your lower body. It might be difficult at first, but once you get the form, it’s going to be a breeze.

These are just some of the many fitness exercises you can do at home. If they get easier, you can modify them a bit to give you more resistance. Being fit can be easy and cheap, you just need to know what to do.
