You may ask yourself, “how can I lose weight without exercising”? You’ve probably heard that the key to weight loss is diet and exercise. This is true, but it’s a lot different than that. I never understood this before losing weight, and I want to make this simple so that other people can understand that it is possible to lose weight without exercising.

The first thing you need to know is that you use energy no matter what you're doing, even when sleeping. You are constantly, potentially burning weight all of the time. However, you may notice that you cannot eat whatever you want and stay thin.

This is solely because of calories. Based on your age, height and weight, you burn a certain amount of calories every day, even just by sitting around. This number is called a BMR. These calories are burned by making your body function properly. Now, throughout the day, as a person moves around, they burn extra calories by moving around and going about their daily lives.

So, logically, if you only eat the calories of your BMR, you will lose weight without exercise daily! It really does work, but you have to be careful. Why? There are hidden calories in everything. If you are eating chicken that was fried up in oil, say, there are more calories than just the chicken – the oil will be adding calories! If you do not know the calorie content of the food you are eating, unless it’s a fruit or veggie, it’s probably smarter to find another choice to be on the safe side.

So you see, if you calculate your BMR calories correctly, you can start to lose weight without exercise.

A great way to keep track of calories is also online sites such as myfooddiary. This calorie counting tool helps you stay on top of your calories and goals. This particular website happens to be my favorite because I have found that for a very small membership fee, this site gives you access to the most food information and weight loss information out there. Other "free" online calorie counters simply never worked for me.

I would also like to take the time to note that while you can lose weight without exercise, exercise can boost your metabolism, which in turn, boosts your BMR! I am in no way promoting a sedentary lifestyle, I am just trying to explain in words that everyone can understand, that it is possible to lose weight without exercise. I know, I've done it.
