Low Fat Foods

One of the best ways to protect your heart and vital organs from disease is to eat low fat foods. I know when I eat too much fat I feel sluggish and tired all day long. While the fat does make foods taste rich and delicious, it is often added to foods in excess. Even if you don't want to cut the fat out entirely, you can find plenty of foods that taste great in reduced fat varieties.

With so many people following low-carb diet plans, the need to pay attention to fat grams in foods seems to have fallen by the wayside. Recent studies have shown that following a high fat diet can lead to significant health problems over time. Many people get obsessed with their weight, rather than their body fat levels. Someone with lower body fat may actually look thinner than someone who weighs less, but has a higher body fat percentage.

Low Fat Foods For Life

The best way to ensure you're eating low fat foods is to check the label. Fat grams are listed on processed foods, and the higher the fat grams the greater the calorie counts. Added fat does not provide any additional nutritional value. While we all need some fat for survival, we certainly don't need to promote a high fat lifestyle. Eating large amounts of fat, along with a sedentary lifestyle can only lead to weight gain and eventually obesity.

One of the most important lessons you can teach your children is how to eat properly. Rather than sending you kids off to school with high fat snacks like chips, cupcakes or chocolate bars, you can send them off with low fat alternatives. The more high fat foods your children eat, the more they will crave. It's never too early to start developing a healthy relationship with food and healthy eating habits.
