Clean Up Your Diet—Today!

The US has lost its title: Mexico is now the world’s fattest nation, according to a new United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization report.

After collecting data from across the globe, researchers found that 31.8 percent of Americans are considered obese—people ages 20 and older with a BMI above 30—compared to 32.8 percent of Mexicans.

Perhaps surprisingly, the report found that Mexico’s obesity problem is connected to malnutrition—a problem that affects, Americans too.

Now when you hear the word "malnutrition", you may think of people who aren't consuming enough food. But if you’re habitually eating a diet rich in processed foods, you can miss out on the vital nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that nourish your body properly, says Rachael Dunn, R.D. The result: malnutrition and obesity.

One simple upgrade: Focus on eating three to four cups of non-starchy vegetables per day, such as broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, and peppers. You'll infuse your diet with a nutrient-rich but low-calorie foods that will also help fill you up.
