Justin Bieber = Nutrition Expert?

Alright, so I publicly made my confession about my less than stellar training recently on the blog the other day…

…felt good to put that behind me and get it out there.  We often hear that it’s "so easy" for us to stay on track with eating clean and training because it’s our job.

We fight those same struggles you do as well.

Anyhow, so I mentioned the book Unbroken as the fire under my behind.

But I’ve now built a new fire.  In fact, it’s more of a bonfire.

I’m leaving my TRX workout the other day.  Great workout, feeling fantastic and I was going to do a little more stretching.  As I’m walking out of the room, a little girl … around 4 or so … points to her mom and says "MOMMY, LOOK, IT’S JUSTIN BIEBER."

Talk about a blow to the ego.

Now I’ve got nothing against the kid (although I’m glad Ella is too young to have "Bieber Fever" — in fact it’s impressive what he’s done as a performer — but to be compared to him, a 17 year old, was a bit insulting.

Here I am, feeling good … feeling strong … fantastic workout.  And now I look like a 17 year old.

Awesome.

I wanted to turn around and right back into the weight room immediately!

:-)

So, yeah, I was a bit insulted … but of course laughed as that was surely a funny comparison.  Granted, the girl was about 4, so I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt just this one time.

Switching gears completely … let’s talk supplements.

I recently did an interview with one of the world’s leading experts on Vitamin D.

It’s part of a new project we’ve been putting together that is now available.

When I was talking with him — Dr. Robert Heaney — the facts and figures he was sharing were astounding.  And while I’ve read a lot of them already.  He added some incredible insights and information that reminded me just how important this vitamin truly is.

  • 60-90% of teenage girls are deficient (the darker the skin, the higher the rate of deficiency)
  • If you live north of Atlanta, you can’t make adequate vitamin D from the sun most of the year.
  • Vitamin D doesn’t "cure" anything, but it makes everything better (this was one of my favorite statements he made)

We actually talked for about an hour … and all of that is part of Dietary Supplement University.  In fact, in addition to the supplement reviews (50 of them up front), each month you get the benefit of learning from different experts, like Dr. Heaney.

For trainers, strength coaches, parents, dietitians … it’s a must have resource.
