Alli Diet Pill

alli diet pillsWhile in Hawaii I finally had a chance to see the type of marketing that Glaxo Smith Kline are doing for the Alli loss pills. And wow I bet they are selling well.

First of all we all know that there are some side effects to Alli. The pills make you leach a bit of oil from your bum when you are taking them, other then that the Alli diet pills are basically a fat blocker that lets you know that you have eaten too much fat and stops your body from storing it.

Back to the marketing. Part of the problem that diet pills have had over the last few years is that they are very flash in the pan and no one trusts them, usually from good reason. I am not sure how many different diet pills there have been between Phen-fen to Hoodia and in between but there have been lots.

Because there have been so many diet pill and no one trusts them the makers have Alli have taken a bit of a different tact to selling the pills. The pills are sold in bottles in a giant display that makes you think that you are making a wise buying decision by suckering you in a bit. The display says something along the lines of

“You are smart buying these pills because you are educated as to what they do”

This is not true at all and is just again marketing spin. I am not sure that any one source is enough to learn about anything. Having read the companies pamphlet on their own product is not really “research” or “learning”. This is the lazy way out of educating yourself about a product.

If you are really going to lean more about the Alli diet pill or any other product out there on the market for loss then you need to read that pamphlet and then weigh it against other articles that you read on the internet, including my Alli review, articles in magazines and other places. Most importantly look at why there is a reason for the product to be promoted (financial gain?) or for the product to be torn down (special interest against the product?).

I am not sure that Alli is so bad but looking at it as the magic bullet for loss is not very fair either as there is no way that it will improve your fitness level. Lets face it losing and still being unfit is not a lot of help when fitness are really composed of better diet and exercise.
