Healthy Foods For Weight Loss

In this article we will be looking at some healthy foods for loss. The first thing to understand is that no food, by itself, will cause you to lose weight. This is disturbing for some, but it’s simply a fact. The wrong foods can cause you to gain , but even healthy foods will only help you to lose if you eat in sensible quantities and exercise regularly.

Although even healthy foods don’t directly cause loss, they can help with the losing process. One reason is that when you eat healthy foods, there is less room for unhealthy, more fattening foods. That’s why it’s a good idea to think of healthy foods as a replacement for less healthy. In other words, eat better foods instead of unhealthy ones, not in addition to them.

Another way healthy foods can help with loss is that they help the body metabolize food more efficiently and burn calories faster. Again, you also have to increase physical activity for this to work. If you are sedentary, it will be almost impossible to lose no matter what you eat. That being said, let’s look at some foods that can make you feel and look your best.

Healthy Fats these are foods that are rich in healthy, essential fatty acids, especially Omega-3. These include fish oil, almonds and other nuts, avocados, flaxseeds, olive and coconut oils.

Healthy Sugars -if you have a sweet tooth, you should work on limiting your intake of any kind of sugar. However, some sweeteners are definitely better than others. Plain, refined white sugar is both fattening and unhealthy overall. According to some research, artificial sweeteners -the kind found in diet sodas- may be even worse! Also avoid corn syrup. What does that leave? Raw honey, pure maple syrup, agave, pure fruit sweeteners (not high fructose corn syrup) and sweeteners made from naturally sweet foods like sweet potato, yam and beets.

Green Tea -this is a natural stimulant rich in antioxidants. It’s an excellent coffee substitute, as it contains less caffeine and more nutrients. It has also been shown to have loss benefits, as it helps boost the metabolism naturally. However, if you are sensitive to caffeine you may want to only consume it early in the day. You can also get the decaffeinated variety.

Super Fruits -including Goji (also called Wolfberry), Noni, Mangosteen and Acai. All of these are available as juices and also in many nutritional supplements. Some supplements and juices have all of these juices, and others as well, in one product. These are all high in minerals, antioxidants and other nutrients and may also help with loss.
