Value System and Weight Loss

Sometimes people feel like they are only losing temporarily. We have all seen people lose only to gain it back…and more than once at times. Well what can you do about this? How can you make sure that you are losing for good this time?

The best way to guarantee that you will lose for good is to not just change your eating or change your exercise, sure these are very important, but you must change your value system.

When we exercise we feel good. We feel like we are moving in the right direction. The trouble is that when you are not exercising or when you go through a period of time where you are sick and then get better and still not make it back to your exercising then you know that the change was not permanent and you feel bad, or worse you are happy not to have to do it.

We only feel bad when we think that we are missing out on something that we want to do. So this is the core of your value system that you have to change.

A value for exercising would be a deep seated need to workout, not because you are supposed to but because you know that it is what it takes to keep you healthy. If you are doing things to improve your health and you understand how important that your health is then you will also be very excited to do those workouts, you will know the value that every workout will make you healthier and feel better, stronger and fitter.

The same thing goes for eating. If you are questing after burgers and fries (I have been guilty of this) then you will need to look inside yourself and see why you are looking for this instead of only eating great food. I know that when I eat fresh fruit, veggies and home made lean meats I feel great so when I drive by McDonald’s and think about fries I have to see why I am wanting that instead of a great wrap or fresh sub

If it takes you 21 days to build a habit then we should be able to change our value system in that time. In fact I think that you can change your value system even faster if you are sure of it.
